Frequently asked questions

What is HabitBlooms?

HabitBlooms is a habit and study-time tracker that combines daily streaks, a streak-freeze feature so one missed day doesn't erase your progress, and optional guest mode so you can start tracking without creating an account.

What makes HabitBlooms different from other habit trackers?

Three things: streak freezes that let you protect a streak without completing the habit, guest mode for local-only use before signing up, and built-in time tracking for study or work goals, not just checkbox habits.

Is HabitBlooms free?

Yes. HabitBlooms is free to use, including guest mode and every core feature: unlimited habits, streaks, streak freezes, the heatmap, and the built-in timer for duration goals and scheduled sessions.

Can I use HabitBlooms without creating an account?

Yes. Guest mode stores your habits, streaks, and completions locally on your device, so you can try the app fully before signing up. Signing up later transfers your existing streak instead of resetting it.

Does HabitBlooms track study or work hours, not just habits?

Yes. Habits can be set up as duration goals (for example “study 2 hours today”) or scheduled sessions with a built-in stopwatch, so you can track actual time spent, not just whether you showed up.

What happens if I miss a day?

If you have a streak freeze available, you can use it to protect your streak for that day. Otherwise, missed days are shown gently on your calendar rather than as harsh red marks, so returning after a gap doesn't feel discouraging.

Is there a habit tracker with a study timer built in?

Yes — HabitBlooms supports duration-based and scheduled habits with an integrated stopwatch, useful for tracking study sessions, deep work, or workouts alongside your daily habits.

How many streak freezes do I get?

One streak freeze per habit per week. A frozen day is marked as protected rather than completed, so your history stays accurate while the streak keeps counting.

Can I track habits that aren't daily, like three times a week?

Yes. Each habit has its own schedule — specific weekdays, or a weekly target such as three days a week. Weekly targets show a progress ring that resets every Monday, and streaks are calculated only against the days a habit is actually scheduled.

Does HabitBlooms work on mobile?

Yes. HabitBlooms is a mobile-responsive web app, so it works in any modern mobile or desktop browser without installing anything. You can add it to your home screen for an app-like launch.

Can I organise habits into categories?

Yes. You can create your own tags and assign them to habits, then filter the dashboard by tag. Habits are also grouped by time of day — Morning, Afternoon, Evening, or Anytime — with the current section highlighted.

What happens to my habits if I stop using them?

You can archive a habit instead of deleting it. Archived habits leave your daily list but keep their history, and you can view or restore them at any time. Deleting a habit removes its logs permanently.

Where is my data stored?

In guest mode, everything stays in your browser's local storage on that device and never reaches a server. With an account, your habits and logs are stored in a secure database with row-level security, so only you can read or write your own data.

Is HabitBlooms good for students?

Yes. The combination of scheduled study sessions, a stopwatch that records real hours, and lifetime-hours stats makes it useful for exam prep and coursework, where the meaningful metric is time spent rather than a checkbox.

Can I see long-term progress, not just today?

Yes. A GitHub-style contribution heatmap shades each day by how many habits you completed, and each habit has a detail view with a monthly calendar, current streak, and longest streak. A weekly insight card summarises patterns such as your strongest days.
